This is a plea to the American public. More specifically, it is an outcry to the body of Christ. It is a reminder that in this day and age, our hope and trust do not, must not, and can not lie in the office of the Presidency of the United States. Our hope lies in our God, and God alone.
He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Ephesians 1:2023)
As I have been overseas for a couple of months now, it is amazing to me to recognize how much Americans, no matter where they are in the world, are concerned with this year’s presidential race. And I am too, at least to an extent. I am not saying that we should not get the facts and go to the polls on election day to cast an educated vote. But I have to wonder: how much time are we spending discussing and debating the issues and the candidates and how little time are we on our knees for them, for our nation?
If you are upset that a candidate did not place his hand on his heart for your country during a National Anthem but you are not willing to lay on the floor before God to cry out for His mercy over America, I ask you this: what good is a natural action like a hand on the heart when our spiritual hearts are not turned towards God?
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
I also encourage the Body of Christ to seek supernatural eyes in this.
“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Col 3:2)
Things are not going to make sense to our natural eyes. But God is still in charge, still sovereign, and worthy of our trust. Yet still we must fix our eyes on Him and Him alone. We must ask, in faith, for supernatural revelation.
I am sure that David did not always understand why Saul was appointed King or why God allowed Saul to persecute David, but still, David never cursed Saul. Even in Saul’s death David blessed him and his family and continued to call him “God’s anointed one.” As the body of Christ, I think we may have a lesson to learn from David.
But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. (Colossians 3:8)
I urge the body of Christ, do not give the enemy a foothold with malice, anger, slander and hate. Do not curse any of the presidential candidates but rather, bless them, pray for them.
We must humble ourselves and pray. America must repent of its arrogance. Often we think that because we live a comfortable lifestyle we can call ourselves : “blessed.” We might consider that much of our comforts are at the hands of the price on this world and perhaps not the direct hand the Lord. In fact, many of these “blessings” of prosperity that so many like to proclaim are the very things that keeps many of us from every truly coming to the Cross!
Let’s stop debating the election. Rather, let’s do something about the state of our Nation, let’s get on our knees together.
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
